Emma is the first recipient of an Emerging Leaders Fellowship grant from the Winnipeg Foundation. In that capacity she is working on a project with the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba to mobilize under-utilized community assets to support school nutrition programs in Winnipeg through creating sustainable school-community partnerships.
Emma graduated from the University of Winnipeg/Menno Simons College with a double Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies and History and was awarded the gold medal in history. Her thesis in International Development Studies was From South to North: Case Studies of Community Kitchens and Microfinance. As part of her studies, Emma completed a 4 month practicum in Peñaherrera Ecuador.
